Sorry, but our story doesn’t lend itself to zippy irreverence

Director Phil Rockrohr made the decision early on to tell this story in the style of Old School Journalism, relying on interviews to show you what we found instead of telling you what we think you should believe.

We interviewed 75 people. Here’s what we found. You decide what you think.

For the past three years, our interracial team held firmly to letting the story speak for itself. One criticism we heard during filming was that white filmmakers had no business making a film about Black people.

Our team isn’t all white. And while the film is about race, it’s not just about Black people. It’s about the experience of people of different races growing up in an integrated community.

What you’ll see is people recounting stories from their youth in a town unlike any other. Was it real? Yes. Was it perfect? No.

Was it a worthwhile experiment? You be the judge.
